Working on your own brand is much like performing brain surgery on yourself: possible but not ideal. However, lucky Bush has many brains and more hands to match. Last week in the middle of getting one of our latest, and I will say humbly greatest group projects, launched (
Green Cauldron Coffee) we confirmed a modified positioning for Bush Branding & Marketing.
When Bush began at the beginning of this century we were like most small advertising/design agencies: we could design and write copy; prepare professional print ready files for flyers, press ads and business cards; story board and produce TV commercials; write a radio jingle and record it; and being technology savvy we could even register domain names and put up html websites.
Over our 10 years Bush Branding & Marketing has had 3 logos, 4 websites and moved offices 5 times. We have completed just short of 1000 projects and our core team is still together. As we looked to redefine ourselves it seemed logical to review what we are really good at. What is the thing that new clients come to us and has long standing clients sticking by us?
Digital. Yes, one simple word. A word that has been transforming communications at break-neck speeds for over a decade. With this strategic insight it was agreed that Bush Branding & Marketing would clarify our offering by simply putting the word Digital after Bush and before Branding & Marketing.
With our positioning clarified the baton has been passed to Nighean our long serving and tireless creative director and designer to come up with a look that says this without migrating too far. A tough job for sure. Thankfully we have web 2.0 on our side. This morning I came across this great article and reference on twitter that shows the logos of some of the biggest web 2.0 brands and references the font type used in the word marks.

Frank Heaps sayings) we are going to use
99 designs to get some fresh ideas for logo treatments to give Andrew, Alison, Kaleigh, Rachael, Jon and I an opportunity to do some design by trial of our own without giving Nighean's ego yet another bush bashing.
